Last summer Land Rover introduced the Range Rover Autobiography, a 4×4 of all the traditional Range Rover luxury but with even more spiffy detail and greater panache. Any vehicle promising so much elegance is something I have to see.

Range Rover Autobiography
Fresh off of visiting the Art Institute of Chicago and viewing some of the most distinguished paintings by legendary artists, I thought it fitting to examine an Autobiography at a Land Rover dealer in Chicago. The Autobiography, after all, is supposed to be every bit as beautiful as those masterful works of art and probably way more useful in rocky terrain. Luckily, the people at Patrick Land Rover had one in the showroom a few weeks ago and were kind enough to let me climb into it.
When I first gazed upon the gracefully striking inside I instantly forgot who Van Gogh was. I still could picture Monet’s famous Water Lilly Pond, but all I could think about was accelerating through it on 20” wheels while surrounded by oh-so-inviting leather and wood interior.
Who needs a museum anyway? The Autobiography is a masterpiece painted to the road. Any Range Rover is a thing of beauty, but this vehicle takes it to the ultimate echelon, with details like the softest grade of leather possible and four-zone air conditioning. This off-roader is like a second order of crème brulée. You don’t drive the Autobiography, you indulge in it.
I have to believe that if you’re a buyer looking for the utmost luxury from a 4×4, there is no chance you can glance over the Autobiography. It does not scream class; it sings it in the silky smooth voice of Frank Sinatra. This vehicle is more than an experience, it is an extravagance. If you have the means for the most luxurious 4×4 money can buy, I can tell you that the Range Rover Autobiography is it.
